An executive can publish every week for a year and still not be known for anything in particular. The posts are competent, the topics are relevant, the schedule is kept. Yet when a client or journalist is asked what the executive contributes to the industry, there is no clear answer.
Being active in industry conversations is not the same as adding something to them. Commentary that restates what everyone already knows fills a feed. It does not build authority.
What can an executive contribute that helps others understand an industry, challenge an assumption or make sense of a meaningful problem?
A thought leadership strategy begins with that question, and everything else follows from the answer.
