Influencer Marketing
Influencer Marketing : Marketing has always been an ever-evolving industry. Print advertisements used to be the biggest way to advertise until social media and digital marketing came along. Before you knew it ads started popping up on your Instagram account or an influx of sponsored posts on Twitter. What started out as an expansion of the advertising and marketing world has now become something users have started to roll their eyes at. Brands invest tons of money and manpower into ad creatives that ultimately turn out to be a 2-second scroll for their Target Audience.
In this fast-changing world, even the needs and interests of the audience are fast changing. A song is old in only 6 months, a meme is overused after just 30 days. They are in a constant need to change, something that brands have now started to pick up on.
Influencer Marketing from Social Media platforms
Influencer Marketing is an emerging form of marketing predominantly on social media platforms. These involve the placement of products or endorsements from high follower-based influencers or sometimes even organizations. These influencers position themselves as experts in the field or genre they pertain to for example fashion, makeup, lifestyle, and so on.
Influencer Marketing does work in most cases. There are several brands with success stories including the likes of Daniel Wellington. Influencers are more than just experts in the field they are in. They become symbols of aspiration. Their followers aim at leading the lifestyle or making the choices that these influencers make.
Brands have to be smart and identify these aspirational qualities in influencers and use them effectively for the marketing of their offerings. Take for example a skincare brand. Such a brand must predominantly target makeup gurus as they have considerable knowledge of this industry. Thus when this brand gets associated with a certain makeup guru a level of aspiration and credibility is denoted to the brand in the eyes of its audience.
A survey conducted in Dubai showed the rise of brands that are predominantly using influencer marketing to their advantage. They create campaigns, challenges and viral videos with these influencers thus generating buzz for their brands & offerings. New research showed that 94% of marketers in the UAE believe in the power of influencer marketing.
What we have learned in past is an excess of anything is quickly discarded by the audience. Influencer Marketing is indeed an incredible tool but it must be used creatively to cut the clutter.
